Friday, 2 October, 4:00-4:30 pm in Kunsthal Aarhus.
Every year, Kunsthal Aarhus presents the juried exhibition KP and the emerging artists’ exhibition SPRING. But what goes on behind the scenes to make these exhibitions happen? Ole C. Hansen, business manager of the Artists’ Easter Exhibition, offers a rare glimpse into the planning, preparation and practical work that takes place behind the scenes.
The event is part of BAG OM KULTUREN (BEHIND THE SCENE). Admission is free, as is entry to all exhibitions at Kunsthal Aarhus.

As part of BAG OM KULTUREN (BEHIND THE SCENE) 2026, the Artists’ Easter Exhibition will also present a time-lapse film documenting the installation and dismantling of KP26 and SPRING26, on view from 1–11 October 2026.
When we encounter an art exhibition, the traces of its making and the processes behind it are usually carefully concealed. And rightly so: the focus is on allowing a curious audience to encounter the new works on their own terms, as they are presented at KP and SPRING.
This time-lapse film, however, shifts the focus to what happens before and after the doors open to the public, with a brief glimpse of the opening day on 28 March 2026 and the final day of the exhibitions on 17 May 2026.
The first sequence was filmed between 24 and 28 March, when most of the artworks had already arrived at Kunsthal Aarhus. The exhibition takes shape: works are positioned, paintings are hung, sculptures installed, cables laid and, finally, the lighting adjusted – all in preparation for the moment when artists and visitors fill the galleries for the opening.
The second sequence was filmed on the final day of the exhibitions, capturing an artist talk and the collection of the artworks – another transformation of the venue at Kunsthal Aarhus as the exhibition comes to an end.
