Task of the Selection Committee

The Selection Committee, appointed by KP's board, selects the works for KP26 on the basis of the submitted digital files + possibly project descriptions or statements of artistic intentions, if provided by the submitter. Artistic criteria only
The Selection Committee select the works solely on the basis of artistic criteria. All other criteria are irrelevant to selection.
The whole Selection Committee evaluate all the submitted works.

The works for KP are selected over three rounds based on uploaded digital image files or video or audio files submitted on usb disk og by wetransfer.com.
First round:

Yong Sun Gullach
Born 1967, Seoul, Korea – based in Copenhagen.
Yong Sun Gullach works feministic interdisciplinary with performance, text, sculptures, film, sound and activism – investigating the endless reconstruction transnational adoptees are forced to endure in the neo-colonial global North, the body in diaspora being an archive and a vessel for trauma and pain.
Yong Sun Gullach has a cand. mag in Literature, University of Copenhagen 1997, en Masters Degree in Mediastudies, New School University, NYC 1999, a Diplomacy Degree in Management(UH), DTU 2011 and an Art Writing Masterclass, Aarhus Literature Center 2014.

Lina Hashim

Lina Hashim
Born 1978 in Kuwait City – based in Copenhagen.
A recurrent theme in Hashim’s practice is the investigation and exposure of aspects of Islam that are usually concealed from the public. Her investigations are in no way blasphemous, but are part of a critical, nuanced dialogue with religion. Hashim has said: “If Islam is a play, I want to show what goes on backstage.” In her investigations, Hashim has a two-pronged perspective on Islam: on the one hand, as a woman raised in Islam; on the other hand, as a critical viewer.
Lina Hashim graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2020.

Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl

Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl
Born 1990 – based in Copenhagen.
Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl is an artist and composer. Video is often an element in his cross-media works. His art often stems from a darkness from a childhood characterized by violence and neglect, and it is a wonderful mixture of hyperrealism with documentary camerawork and strong symbolism with set-up stills, animations and effects.
Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2019 and the Funen Art Academy (BFA) in 2015.

Jens Settergren
Born 1989 - based in Copenhagen.
Through the use of sculpture, sound, found footage, language and video, Jens Settergren develops immersive installations that explore the role of the image and the power of manipulation in a technoliberal society.
Jens Settergren graduated from the Jutland Art Academy 2016.

Jacob Remin

Jacob Remin
Born 1977 - based in Copenhagen.
Jacob Remin's practice is a critical meditation over technology and the power structures it creates. Remin often works collaboratively and structurally, creating spaces for conversation. Remins works are manifested as physical works in the meeting between light, space, composition and interaction.
Jacob Remin has an MA, Interaction Design from CIID (2009) and a BA, Design Enginer from DTU (2008).

Research profile
My research lies within digital technology studies, biased by aesthetics and the arts; it is
interdisciplinary combining design, cultural studies, arts, and technology with theory and
methods found in critical computing, co-design, and feminist theory. Through this
interdisciplinary research and with a solid foundation in design and arts, I investigate how IT,
design, and socio-cultural contexts affect our everyday and in turn how this affects ways that
digital technologies might change society and everyday situations. A key point is to think of
design and designing as something through which we might think of critical alternatives to
the way we live, love, and think.

Signe Klejs

Born 1974 - lives and works in Aarhus (DK).
Master’s in design with Digital Media from Design School Kolding and Universität der Künste Berlin.

Signe Klejs works across many genres including, stage art, visual arts, site specific art, installations and transmedia projects. Klejs’ art has been exhibited all over Scandinavia, in Europe, Asia and the US. During the European Cultural Capital in Aarhus 2017 Klejs created the piece Hesitation of Light. Since May 2019, her permanent light installation Zeitgeist has been installed on the façade of The Women’s Museum in Aarhus.

Amalie Smith

Born 1985 - lives and works in Copenhagen (DK).
Master of Fine Arts degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2015 and a BFA from the same school in 2012. In 2009 graduated from The Danish Academy of Creative Writing.

Amalie Smith works with text and image in the shape of exhibitions, video, sound and books, and has published eight books, most recently Thread Ripper (2020). She is broadly interested in how idea and matter are interwoven and this interest has led her to work on diverse subjects such as the Greek sponge divers dance, woven textile as the fabric of the digital, uploading and the colour of ancient sculpture.
Amalie Smiths visual work has been shown in Denmark at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, ARoS, The Museum of Contemporay Art in Roskilde and The National Gallery of Denmark among other places, and abroad in Melbourne, London, Leeds, Reykjavik, Riga and Kunstmuseum Bonn in Germany.

Born 1977 - lives and works in Helsingør (DK).
Graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 2006 and Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam 2003.

Jacob Tækker works with digital media, installations and performance. Tækker has exhibited both solo and in group exhibitions in the Scandinavian countries as well as in Germany.

The Selection Committee select the works solely on the basis of artistic criteria. All other criteria are irrelevant to selection.
The whole Selection Committee evaluate all the submitted works.

Selection Conditions
The works for KP are selected over three rounds based on uploaded digital image files or video or audio files submitted on usb disk.
First round:
All material is evaluated. If there is one committee member that wants to review one or more of the artist's submitted works, then ALL of that artist's works continues to the second round.
Second round:
Individual works can be selected. If there are at least two committee members who want to review one or more of the artist's works, then these specific works continue to the third round.
Third round:
Final and decisive - here the works are selected for KP. There must be at least three committee members (ordinary majority) in favor of a work.

The evaluation is done on the basis of the submitted digital files + possibly project descriptions or statements of artistic intentions, if provided by the submitter.
During the evaluation, the Selection Committee gets no other information about the submitter than journal number and, if applicable, the name by reasoned inquiry.

Task of the Selection Committee

The Selection Committee selects the works for KP20, and is also responsible for subsequently composing the exhibition overall.

The Selection Committee has been appointed by the KP Board on the basis of proposals and recommendations from members of KP and the Board's own proposals.

Milena Bonifacini
born 1963 (Lima, Peru) – lives and works in Nyborg (DK).
Graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen.
Works with paintings, objects and drawings.
Milena Bonifacini is also a member of the Academy Council, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Kaspar Bonnén

Graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen.
Works with paintings, objects and drawings.

born 1972 – lives and works in Copenhagen.
Graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen.
Works with sculpture, and has also made a number of significant works for public places.

born 1955 – blives and works in Aarhus.
Graduated from Jutland Academy of Fine Arts, Aarhus.
Works with serial works and installations, based on photography and painting.

Mariko Wada

born 1972 (in Japan) – lived and worked in Aarhus since 1988. Graduated from Kolding School of Design, Department of Ceramics and Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. Aesthetics and Art theory. BA.
Works with sculpturel ceramics in different scales and contexts.

David Svensson

born 1973 – lives and works in Malmö, Sweden.
Graduated from the Malmö Art Academy, Sweden, Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm, Sweden, National Academy of Fine Art, Olso, Norway and HDK (University of Design and Crafts) graphic design, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Works in various genres and formats, has made several large public artworks and a number of Artists Books.
